This Year's Goal in Marmarathon Where Ideas Compete is: Neighborhood for a Resilient City

Marmarathon, held in collaboration with the Data and Technology Center, Üretken Akademi and Superpool within the scope of MARUF on the Go, will focus on neighborhood organizations in the event of disasters. Marmarathon, organized as an ideathon, calls on young people to contribute to the safe societies of the future by emphasizing the importance of solidarity in the neighborhood, on-site intervention, working together and being prepared for disasters in order to make cities and society more resilient against disasters.

Marmarathon, which will be physically organized on August 17-18 on the anniversary of the Düzce earthquake, invites young people to produce creative solutions for neighborhood volunteer organizations in case of disasters and to develop sustainable, resilient, innovative and inclusive projects for the future. Groups from different disciplines will work together for 36 hours and come up with new strategies and solutions to increase solidarity at the neighborhood scale in case of a disaster. In addition, information sessions on disaster management will be held online between August 7-11 to contribute to the idea generation process of Marmarathon participants.

Marmarathon's program, enriched with supportive trainings and mentors, will provide participants with the opportunity to develop ideas and projects on how to establish volunteer neighborhood organizations, how to determine their responsibilities and how to ensure their functionality by raising awareness and knowledge within the scope of disaster management including before, during and after disasters. The ideas generated will be evaluated by the Marmarathon jury and the selected works will be presented at the "Marmarathon: Neighborhood for Resilient City" session.

Anyone between the ages of 18-30 can apply for the Marmarathon. All participants who like to work in different disciplines, who want to develop their creative, innovative and collaborative thinking/producing skills can apply here. Anyone who wants to produce ideas and projects aiming to create a strong solidarity network in the neighborhood in the event of a disaster is invited.
